| The R-CHEK family of 4-point surface resistivity meters are simple instruments to use. Press the unit against the surface under test, push the power button and read the results in ohms/square. The unit is powered by a 9 volt alkaline battery (included). A low battery indicator will light when the battery should be replaced. Two (2) spare replacement pins have been included with your unit. You will find the spare pins inside the battery compartment. |  |

Surface Resistivity Defined |
The resistance of a thin film/coating is directly proportional to the resistivity,  , and inversely proportional to the thickness, d. Therefore it is convenient to define a quantity called, Rs, which is equal to  /d. The quantity Rs is called the sheet resistance and may be thought of as a material property since the coating/film is essentially two-dimensional. The sheet resistance, Rs, has the units of ohms, but it is convenient to refer to it in ohms per square since the sheet resistance produces the resistance of the coating when multiplied by the number of non-overlapping squares. The sheet resistance is a basic material property that needs to be measured without cutting or etching the material. This parameter is therefore measured using the 4 point technique. |
Important Notes |
The RC2175/RC3175 is the only thing that should be in contact with the glass while the reading is being taken. The operator may have their hand on the meter itself, but should not allow any part of their hand to overlap the meter and come into contact with the glass during testing. WARNING: The accuracy of the R-CHEK depends on the unit being firmly pressed against the surface under test. Surface resistivity measurements are based upon an infinite test surface. For accurate readings the R-CHEK should not be used within 2 inches of an edge. The instrument's accuracy will be approximately affected as shown: within 0.3 inches of surface edge; reduce the reading by 20% At a minimum, annually replace the battery with a 9 volt Alkaline (NEDA 1604A) only. |
Warranty Information |
| The manufacturer warrants all models of the RC2175/RC3175 to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service as specified within the operator's manual. The manufacturer shall repair or replace the unit within ninety (90) days from the original date of shipment after the unit is returned to the manufacturers factory, prepaid by the user, and the unit is disclosed to the manufacturers satisfaction, to be thus defective. This warranty shall not apply to any unit that has been repaired or altered other than by the manufacturer. The aforementioned provisions do not extend the original warranty period of the unit which has been repaired or replaced by the manufacturer. Batteries are not covered by warranty. The manufacturer assumes no liability for the consequential damages of any kind through the use or misuse of the RC2175/RC3175 product by the purchaser or others. No other obligations or liabilities are expressed or implied. All damage or liability claims will be limited to an amount equal to the sale price of the RC2175/RC3175, as established by the manufacturer |
